Regina Sirvent is a debutant pilot at the age of 14, who will participate in NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series, a category for new drivers that uses the same format and competition rules as NASCAR.
Sirvent shared that in a sport dominated by men, she has not had very pleasant experiences dealing with that ideology.
"Many times I have been told that they are better than me, that I am not competition, but I try to improve to show them that I can do better than them, and when it happens there are comments like 'it hurts me more to be beaten by a girl than by a boy," she emphasized.
Her beginnings started three years ago, thanks to her father who bought a kart for her, and with the inspiration of her grandfather who was a driver, "since I was little I loved driving, I pretended to drive on my dad's lap, even though the car was turned off, and with our kart I became addicted to this."
One of the things that fascinates her is the coexistence that exists in this world "it's like a family, there are the mechanics, the team leaders, and being with all of them makes me feel very comfortable and happy."
The pilot does not need to have a minimum academic level to belong to the MIKEL'S TRUCKS team, but despite that, she does not neglect school. "Thank God, the school gives me great support, because they accept all the work before or after without affecting the grade, and that's why I maintain a good average."
One of her aspirations is to continue learning in this category, where she has the current champion of the Xfinity Series, Daniel Suárez, as an example. "I have always followed Daniel's steps, which is why I want to learn everything I can in this category since he also competed in it."
Although she is one of the youngest debutants, she already has three years of experience in karting and has raced in categories like Vortex 60cc, Yamaha KT100, and Rotax Jr. "Currently, we compete in the Telmex challenge, which is a kart circuit, and now with MIKEL'S TRUCKS, which is what is coming for this year."
Her first participation in the NASCAR PEAK will be on March 24-26 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and it will end on November 10-12 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
