LONDON -- Belgian Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea forward, has been loaned to Roma for the current season.
Lukaku, who joined Chelsea in 2021 for over 100 million euros, never managed to adapt to the English club and was loaned to Inter Milan last season, where he performed well.
Back at Chelsea this summer, the forward did not convince Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino and the club looked for a way to send him out, as he still has three years left on his contract.
The solution was a loan to Roma, which will pay Lukaku's salary. The player agreed to reduce his wages in order to keep the remaining three years of his contract and facilitate a departure.
In Rome, he will reunite with Portuguese coach José Mourinho, with whom he coincided during his time at Manchester United.
