Lapadula registered his best performance in Serie B
Gianluca Lapadula has had an extensive career in Italian football, but he found his best performance in Serie B. In the 2015-16 season, while playing for Pescara, he scored 30 goals in 44 appearances, being key for the promotion and that campaign earned him a transfer to AC Milan. So far, the 'Bambino' has not reached that number again.
Gianluca Lapadula didn't start with much regularity with Benevento, as he joined the preseason late due to his commitment to the Peruvian national team in the 2021 Copa America. Despite this, in addition to his uncertain future, the striker did not lose focus and is having an impressive campaign.
This Friday, the 'Bambino' scored a brace in the victory over Ternana, in the 17th round of the promotion championship, and reached 10 goals so far in the tournament. In this way, the Italo-Peruvian positions himself as the leading scorer up to now.
Gabriel Strefezza, Brazilian player of Lecce, follows closely, as he has scored nine goals in this 2021-22 season. Meanwhile, Massimo Coda (Lecce) and Gabriel Charpentier (Frosinone) are also in contention, each with eight celebrations.
However, there is still a long way to go for these attacking players, who, apart from individual statistics, will seek promotion to Serie A in Italy with their respective clubs.
After the victory over Ternana, Benevento will have 31 points and is in third place (playoffs). Meanwhile, Lecce will remain in second place (direct promotion) with the same number of points, but the draw against Lapadula and company gives them a slight advantage. Remember that head-to-head record is the tiebreaker in the Italian second division.
