The German international and Real Madrid player Toni Kroos has been named the "man of the year 2016" by "Kicker", the reference sports newspaper in Germany.

The edition of tomorrow, Tuesday, of the aforementioned newspaper places Kroos as the "Sports personality" of the year that is ending and values his international level and consistency in his performance, both in the Spanish league, as in the Champions League and in the team led by Joachim Löw.

The German midfielder, 26 years old, achieved in 2016 with Real Madrid the Champions title, after having obtained it in 2013 with Bayern Munich, which makes him the only German until now who has that title with two different teams.

"Toni has become a world star. He is a cornerstone in the plans of our team to revalidate the world champion title in Moscow, in 2018," said Löw, referring to Kroos' role.

In a similar vein, former Real Madrid coach Jupp Heynckes states that Kroos is among "the three best midfielders in the world" and also fantastically leads the game of the Real Madrid players.

Heynckes, coach of Bayern Munich between 2011 and 2013, also praises that his former player has renewed with Real Madrid until 2022 and values, on a personal level, that he is a world-class player "without a star behavior".
