Before the situation that the people of Guerrero are experiencing after the passage of Hurricane Otis, Ana Gabriela Guevara, director of the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sport (Conade), requested President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to exempt the economic prize that is traditionally awarded to athletes after the results of the Pan American Games.
“The president has not changed the amount, I think it will be the same, the president has not given instructions yet. I sent a message to the president with the possibility that, due to what is happening in Acapulco, if the resource can be exempted, due to what the country is going through and specifically the people of Guerrero, we have not had a response and the president has not set an amount, he simply announced it as all of you saw at the flag ceremony,” said Guevara.
Hurricane Otis made landfall in Guerrero, affecting the population, so Guevara considered that the economic resources could well help in the stabilization of those affected by this natural phenomenon.
“He is the one who decides, it should be remembered that this stimulus does not come from Conade's resources, it does not work on the resources granted for the exercise, it is an exception that the president makes, therefore it is a resource that is made in other years,” she said.
Guevara attended the venues of the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, where she observed the athletic competitions.
