The coach of Comunicaciones pointed out that they must take advantage of the goal opportunities they create against Cartaginés to secure the ticket to the Concacaf Champions Cup
GUATEMALA --- Comunicaciones FC is playing for the direct ticket to the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup when they receive CS Cartaginés on Tuesday at 20:15 hours in the second leg of the playoff at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores Stadium, after the 1-1 draw registered last Tuesday.
The cremas have the advantage of having scored away goals, however, coach Willy Olivera is not confident because of that factor and appeals to effectiveness in the goal opportunities that arise in the match.
"We know the importance of the match, although the away goal is a factor for the tiebreaker, we are not confident. We know that Cartaginés is a good team and we have to take many precautions. We have to be the team we are at home, be protagonists and tilt the balance in our favor," said Willy Olivera during the press conference.
"In the previous match, we had many chances to take the lead, unfortunately we couldn't do it. Here at home we have to be decisive, especially in these types of decisive matches, that's what we're going to focus on for tomorrow's match," added Olivera.
When asked about the defensive lapses that Comunicaciones has had in recent matches, losing the lead in the score, he acknowledged that they have been working on it. "We are aware that many times we have taken the lead and have not maintained it. Although we also know that we have played against great teams and that is difficult. We know that in this decisive match it is something we have to correct and we are working on it."
For Tuesday's match, Willy Olivera confirmed the absences of Rodrigo Saravia, Gerardo Gordillo, and Anderson Ortiz due to injury. "Unfortunately, we have had bad luck with key players in the squad. Rodrigo Saravia had a strong knock in Mixco and will not be able to play. Gerardo Gordillo will also be unavailable and Anderson Ortiz has not fully recovered yet. We are betting on a competitive squad and we know our obligation to win the ticket to the Champions Cup."
Finally, he emphasized the importance of this match against Cartaginés. "This is the most important match we will face for now.
