Luis Rubiales is suspended by FIFA for an initial period of 90 days.

The FIFA announced this Saturday the provisional suspension of the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, who kissed without consent the player Jenni Hermoso last Sunday after the final of the Women's World Cup.

The president of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Jorge Iván Palacio (Colombia), using the powers granted to him by article 51 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), has decided to provisionally suspend Mr. Luis Rubiales from all football activities at the national and international level. This suspension, which will take effect from today, is for an initial period of 90 days, pending the disciplinary process opened against Mr. Luis Rubiales on Thursday, August 24,”, informed the maximum football entity.

"Likewise, the president of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, in order to preserve, among other factors, the fundamental rights of the national team player, Ms. Jennifer Hermoso, and the good order of the disciplinary procedure before this Disciplinary Body, has issued two additional directives (article 7 FDC) ordering Mr. Luis Rubiales, whether directly or through third parties, to refrain from contacting or attempting to contact the professional player of the Spanish national team, Ms. Jennifer Hermoso, or her close environment. Likewise, the RFEF and its officials or employees, directly or through third parties, are ordered to refrain from contacting the professional player of the Spanish national team, Ms. Jennifer Hermoso, and her close environment,”, they added.

"The decision taken by the president of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has been communicated today to Mr. Luis Rubiales, to the RFEF and to UEFA for their due compliance,”, they added.

"The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will not provide any further information on these disciplinary proceedings until a final decision has been taken,”, concludes the statement.

The Spanish Football Federation announces "legal actions" for Jenni Hermoso's "lies" about forced kiss

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) described as "lies" the latest accusations made by the player Jenni Hermoso against its president, Luis Rubiales, for the non-consensual kiss after the World Cup final that Spain won, and announced "legal actions".

“The RFEF and Mr. President will demonstrate each of the lies that are spread either by someone on behalf of the player or, if applicable, by the player herself,” stated the institution in a statement issued on Friday night to Saturday, after the Spanish international said she felt "a victim of an assault" by Rubiales' kiss on the mouth.

The RFEF indicated that it will initiate "the legal actions that correspond" to defend the version of its president, who rejected resigning on Friday, and considered it a "consensual" gesture.

The Spanish international Jenni Hermoso, 33, said on Friday afternoon that she felt "vulnerable and a victim of an assault" when she received the kiss from Luis Rubiales at the end of the World Cup final, after stating that the kiss "was not consensual".

A few hours earlier, Hermoso had stated, in a first statement from her union FUTPRO, that she "never" consented to that kiss, dismantling the defense of Luis Rubiales.

In its statement, the federation quotes FUTPRO's, in which Hermoso states: "In no case did I seek to lift the president".
