In Chile, the government grants the Presidential Scholarship, which is a benefit aimed at students from first to fourth year of high school who have a minimum average grade of 6.0 and who are part of the 40% of the most vulnerable Chilean population, according to the Social Register of Homes. The Presidential Scholarship consists of the delivery of 6.2 UTM (Monthly Tax Units), in 10 installments per year, for each high school student who is in a socio-economic vulnerability condition and with outstanding academic performance.
How to maintain the Presidential Scholarship?
To renew the Presidential Scholarship, students must maintain two fundamental points that will allow them to continue obtaining the scholarship:
- Socio-economic situation in a range of up to 40% in the Social Register of Homes
- Average grade equal to or higher than 6.0

Requirements for processing the Presidential Scholarship
Students will have to present documents when it is not possible for JUNAEB to validate compliance with the requirements for obtaining the scholarship. The following documents must be submitted through the municipalities or at the corresponding regional office:
- Certificate or suitable document to certify enrollment or regular student status.
- Annual grade certificate.
- Social Register of Homes (RSH) statement.
In case you are a technical-professional high school student and you are in the process of an internship, you can renew the benefit by presenting the internship certificate issued by the educational institution and which must include:
- The duration of the internship (start and end).
- The identification of the internship center.
How to receive the Presidential Scholarship for higher education
It should be noted that the Presidential Scholarship is also aimed at higher education students and to receive it you must meet the following requirements:
- Having obtained a minimum average score of 485 on the Higher Education Admission Test (PAES) in the mandatory tests (Reading Competency and Mathematical Competency), for students entering professional careers at universities.
- For students who have taken tests in previous formats (PDT or PSU) and demonstrate the respective annual suspensions, they will be penalized with a minimum average score of 475 points in language and mathematics.
- For students who receive scholarships until 2022, having a range of up to 70% in the Social Register of Homes (RSH).
- For students who receive scholarships from 2023, having a range of 40% in the Social Register of Homes (RSH).
