Spain gave the first big win of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. They defeated Costa Rica with a resounding 7-0 score in Group E. Led by Luis Enrique, they had no major problems to impose themselves against the Central American team, which - despite having Keylor Navas as goalkeeper - could not prevent this goal frenzy.

With this result, the Furia Roja (Red Fury) wrote a new page in the history of Spanish football, as the thrashing dealt to the 'ticos' is the largest in all their World Cup participations. After winning their debut, Spanish and other international media did not hesitate to praise the Spanish national team, which is a candidate to win its second World Cup title.

“Historical exhibition by Spain”, “Spain makes a historical breakthrough in the World Cup with a thrashing”, “Tiki-taka is back”, “La Roja machinery overwhelms Costa Rica with a festival of play and goals”, among others, are some of the headlines in the world's leading sports media.
