Tense moment
The confirmation that the Chilean national team will not play the 2022 World Cup in Qatar on the last day of the qualifiers left the southern fans very affected. What happened in the qualifiers led to the departure of Martín Lasarte from the bench. However, before leaving, the coach recalled an act of indiscipline that occurred during the 2021 Copa America, which generated a discussion between Gary Medel and journalist Cristian Sánchez.
During the interview, they focused on the entry of a hairdresser to the team's concentration in Brazil (an event that Lasarte referred to). The 34-year-old defender showed his discomfort with the coach for "implying indiscipline" when there was only a breach of health protocols.
At that moment, the journalist asked him if there were other similar episodes. "Indiscipline, I mean in terms of parties, the usual, right? There wasn't any of that?" asked the ESPN panelist.

These words were not to the liking of the Bologna defender and he immediately demanded that the journalist justify his statements. "Like the typical one? Why do you say the typical one? The 'typical', the 'typical'. Do you have evidence, do you have things, that you say all that? As if we do it habitually, you say, and it is not like that, for something we have been in Europe for 15 years," he replied with certain anger.
Given this response, the press man clarified his position and calmed down the situation. "There have been indisciplines in the national team, not only this season, but in past qualifiers; that's what I mean by the typical. What Lasarte implies is something else," he added.
As it is remembered, this is not the first time that the members of the so-called 'golden generation' are involved in extracurricular scandals.
During the qualifying process for Brazil 2014, it was reported that Arturo Vidal, Carlos Carmona, Jean Beausejour, and Gonzalo Jara arrived late to the concentration, prior to the match against Uruguay in Montevideo, and in very bad conditions. Likewise, during the 2015 Copa America, the Inter Milan midfielder was involved in another episode: he crashed his car and was arrested for drunk driving.
