Confederación Brasileña de Fútbol utiliza tarjetas verdes
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced that they are the first South American country to debut the use of green cards, which will be used in the 'Copa Verde' to reward fair play on the field.
Objective of the Green Cards
Therefore, the function is contrary to that of the other cards: instead of punishing the players, the goal is to reward them symbolically for actions that demonstrate "respect, sportsmanship, and social responsibility."
Usage of the Green Cards
The cards can be shown even after the match has ended, but like the yellow and red cards, they will only be used for players on the field, substitutes, and substituted players.
Permission from FIFA
FIFA has granted permission to all federations to use this mechanism in the lower divisions until 2017 as a trial period, and the Italian Serie B was the pioneer last weekend.
The Match
The match will take place in Belém, in the state of Pará, and includes teams from that northern zone.
