For now, the Peruvian national team holds this place in the South American tournament.
Although the playoff matches were scheduled to be decided in March 2022, the context of the COVID-19 pandemic delayed and affected the usual development of the Qatar 2022 qualifying matches, reads the statement.
"The playoffs were originally scheduled for March 2022, but were rescheduled for June 2022 as a result of the unprecedented disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the scheduling of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers worldwide," the publication says.
