Josep Maria Bartomeu, President of Barcelona, admitted on Saturday that "nobody" in his board "plans to resign", despite the large number of signatures collected (over 20,000) to force a vote of no confidence against his management.
"Now nobody wants to resign or thinks about it. The club doesn't stop and we have a lot of work to do before the transfer window closes on October 5," he said in an interview with TV3.
Bartomeu postpones any evaluation until the validation of the signatures. Regarding Lionel Messi and his desire to leave the club, the leader commented that he would not enter into any conflict with the Argentine.
"I will not enter into any conflict with him, he is our captain, our leader, and this issue is parked. I could not allow him to leave the club because he is the best player in history and we wanted him to continue," he insisted.
When asked if it hurt him that Messi said that he failed to keep his word and not let him leave Barça as he had promised, Bartomeu commented that "things are discussed at home, not publicly."
"We have to congratulate ourselves because Messi is still playing with us, which is our number one goal. We want him to retire in the club, we have always said this. This is the project we have for Messi," he insisted.
