Match Report

The match was almost a final for the Andalusian team, which if they lost, would almost definitely move away from that seventh place, while for the home team it was a great opportunity to create distance and consolidate their continental options with an assault on the sixth position.

The Donostiarras came out shaky, with absences, many changes, and key players on the bench like Isak, Monreal, and Odegaard, while Granada put in all they had and, after suffering from a clear chance from Portu, scored their first goal.

Granada was playing very well and a cross from the left by Domingos Duarte found the head of Puertas, who directed his shot near the corner to beat Moyá and put even more pressure on the Real Sociedad players.

Imanol Alguacil has recently complained about the bad luck his team has been having, and it showed again against Granada because before halftime, their clearest attacks did not find the goal, especially because of Rui Silva and the post, who prevented what could have been two goals from Barrenetxea.

Granada, lurking, waited for their opportunity to increase their advantage and did not forgive two minutes before the end of the half, courtesy of Soldado in a play where Llorente was not very sharp, which the former Real Madrid forward took advantage of.

There was a rebuke in the blue and white dressing room and after the break, Real Sociedad reduced the distance as Merino resolved a ball in the Andalusian area, surrounded by opponents, turned around and beat Silva.

The chances continued to arise as a result of the Basque pressure and in the 64th minute, William José had the equalizer in a one-on-one against Rui Silva, which he executed wrongly, sending the ball wide. Then it was the young Näis who sent his shot over the crossbar.

Siege by the Guipuzcoanos until the end in search of an equalizer that came eight minutes before the end with a cross from Näis, which was met with a powerful right shot by Mikel Oyarzabal to the top corner for the goal.

The match seemed to end there but Granada, in their third dangerous shot at Moyá's goal, took the jackpot with a header, on a cross from Machís, from Duarte again with the Real Sociedad defense very weak.
