The Copa del Rey has begun and fans of the 125 Spanish teams participating are eagerly waiting to see how it develops throughout the 2023-24 season. The first preliminary round started this Tuesday and already had the first qualifiers for the next stage. Celta de Vigo, with Renato Tapia, competed on Wednesday, November 1st, qualifying for the second phase with a 4-0 victory over Turégano CF.
The match, which took place at the La Albuera stadium in Segovia, started without much trouble for the team from Galicia, who opened the scoring after 12 minutes through a goal from Jonathan Bamba. It didn't take long for the midfielder to score another goal, this time in the 33rd minute, putting the score in favor of the visitors before the end of the first half.
As for substitutions, both the home team and Celta made changes. Carles Pérez, who came on for Bamba, was responsible for scoring the third goal in the 61st minute, and four minutes later, to maintain possession in midfield, the coach brought on Renato Tapia for Óscar Mingueza. Pérez scored the second goal in the 71st minute, sealing the victory for Celta de Vigo.
Tapia played for 26 minutes in this match, after starting in the defeat against Girona FC on October 27th. The 'Cabezón' was absent in the previous three matches, including the game for the third matchday of the 2026 South American Qualifiers (he came on as a substitute against Argentina in the second half). It is expected that, with this return to the field, the national team player will be 100% in the next call-up in November.
