Agüero suffers knee injury and will be treated in Barcelona
The forward had to leave the field at halftime, after injuring his knee. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed in the post-match press conference that Agüero had been carrying an injury for weeks and that this setback "does not look good".
Now it is City itself that, through a statement, has confirmed that Agüero has a left knee injury and will travel to Barcelona for treatment.
"The forward will travel to Barcelona to see Dr. Ramón Cugat for further tests," City reports.
The forward's father, Leonel Del Castillo, had previously stated on Radio la Red that Agüero suffered a problem with his meniscus and that he would be operated on in Barcelona at the end of this week.
However, according to the British newspaper The Guardian, Agüero does not have any damage to his ligaments, which gives hope that he could return for the final part of the season, when City will play the FA Cup and the Champions League. In the latter, they have a pending second leg against Real Madrid, which will have to be played in the first days of August.
