Everything indicates that Iker Casillas will hang up his gloves this year after a career full of titles with Real Madrid and Porto after suffering a heart attack in 2019. However, he will do so to pursue an important goal for him: to be the president of the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation).

Through social media, Iker Casillas made this announcement official and even published the first photo of his campaign, along with the hashtag #IkerCasillas2020. In the same post, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper indicated that he has had communication about it with the president of Porto and there is no problem with it.

The last match played by Iker Casillas was on April 19 of last year, in the 2-2 draw of Porto against Rio Ave. Now, at 38 years old, it seems that the goalkeeper born in Madrid will no longer continue in activity as a player to take on the challenge of being a candidate for the position of head of the RFEF.

Iker Casillas will be the main competitor of Luis Rubiales, the current president of the RFEF who will seek re-election. However, with the support he has from the entire Spanish football ecosystem, it is most likely that 'San Iker' will be the winner.
