Juventus triumphs and stays on top.

The Argentine Paulo Dybala and the Colombian Juan Guillermo Cuadrado decided the 2-0 victory for Juventus Turin at the Allianz Stadium against the modest Brescia, in a match where the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo was not included in the squad and allowed Maurizio Sarri's men to defend the leadership in the Italian Serie A.

The Juventus, who recovered captain Giorgio Chiellini after 5 months and 26 days out due to a cruciate ligament injury and lost Miralem Pjanic due to muscle problems, has a three-point lead over second-placed Inter Milan and four points over third-placed Lazio, who face each other this Sunday in a high-tension clash at the Roman Olympic Stadium.

Without Cristiano Ronaldo, who agreed with coach Maurizio Sarri to have a rest day after the energy exertion in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semifinals against Milan (1-1), it was Dybala who managed to light up the Juventus team that has been struggling with gameplay lately.

The "Jewel", starting alongside his compatriot Gonzalo Higuain and Colombian Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, celebrated his first goal of 2020 in Serie A with a great free-kick from the edge of the area that surprised the visiting goalkeeper on his post.

It was the 38th minute and Brescia had just been reduced to ten men due to the double booking of Frenchman Florian Aye.

Dybala had only scored two goals in 2020, a brace in the round of 16 against Udinese, while he hadn't scored in Serie A since a Sampdoria-Juventus match on December 18. In total, the Argentine has 11 goals.

Sarri's team sealed the match in the 75th minute thanks to Cuadrado, but received the terrible news of Pjanic's muscle injury, who had come on in the 67th minute and had to be substituted just seven minutes later.

However, the fans at the Allianz Stadium were able to applaud their captain Giorgio Chiellini, who played the final minutes after a serious cruciate ligament injury suffered in August. It was the second match of the year for the veteran Italian international, who had played and scored in the first league matchday.

A convincing 5-1 victory for Fiorentina at the difficult Marassi stadium of Sampdoria under coach Claudio Ranieri. The Florentine side went into halftime leading 3-0, thanks to an own goal by Norwegian Morten Thorsby and two penalties, one of which was won by Argentine Germán Pezzella, converted by Croatian Dusan Vlahovic and Genoese Federico Chiesa.

In the second half, Vlahovic and Chiesa sealed the match with the 4-0 and 5-0 goals respectively, before Manolo Gabbiadini scored the consolation goal for a Sampdoria side that is in 17th place and has just a one-point advantage over the relegation zone.

Important victory for Parma at Sassuolo, in a match decided by Ivorian Kouassi Gervais Yao "Gervinho". The Parmesan side moved up to sixth place, in a Europa League spot, level on points with Hellas Verona. Verona themselves played out a 0-0 draw against Udinese on Sunday.

The matchday opened on Saturday with Atalanta's great 2-1 victory against Roma, who are their next opponents in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. This victory allowed Atalanta to take a six-point lead over fifth-placed Roma.

Tough defeats for bottom-placed Spal, who lost 2-1 to Lecce in a direct battle for survival, and for Bologna, who ended a run of three consecutive victories with a 0-3 defeat at home against Genoa, who are second from bottom.
