The toughest opponent according to Ronaldo Nazário
The 43-year-old former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo Nazário, considered one of the best number 9 in the history of world football, granted an exclusive interview to the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, where he revealed who was the toughest opponent he had to face throughout his successful career.
The chosen one by Ronaldo is the Argentine defender Roberto Fabián Ayala, whom he faced in several moments of his career, such as the Inter-Milan matches in Italy, Valencia-Real Madrid in Spain, and some Brazil vs. Argentina classics.
"He has probably been (Ayala) the player who has hit me the hardest in my career. Every time I faced him, he threatened me and played always on the edge. I just tried to defend myself," were the words of The Phenomenon.
