The lukewarm start of FC Barcelona in LaLiga Santander and Champions League has led to rumors of potential candidates to replace Ernesto Valverde as coach. One of them is none other than Argentine Marcelo Gallardo, River Plate's coach.
According to information provided by the renowned Argentine media 'TNT Sports', the 'Muñeco' would be Barcelona's first choice in the hypothetical case that Valverde is dismissed due to poor results. And what does Gallardo's representative think about it?
"He (Gallardo) has a current contract with River and no different situation is being considered. At the end of the year, the situation will be analyzed globally and resolved accordingly", said Juan Berros in an interview with Goal France.
Marcelo Gallardo has won 10 titles since arriving at Monumental de Núñez and is already the most successful coach in the history of River Plate.
Why would Barcelona be interested in Gallardo?
If there is something that Barcelona currently lacks, it is game, concentration, and order, which are precisely the qualities that Marcelo Gallardo is known for. He also stands out for his character and for being a man who has been steadily building his legacy at River Plate, the club he joined in 2014.
Since then, the 'Muñeco' has won two Copa Argentina titles, one Supercopa, two Copa Libertadores, two Recopa Sudamericanas, and some other trophies that endorse him as a candidate for future endeavors at Barcelona.
