Real Madrid drew against Brugge and managed to avoid a terrible catastrophe in the Champions League. Casemiro scored the 2-2 and gave a respite to Florentino Pérez, although it would still have negative repercussions. UEFA believes that some points of the match were not handled properly.
On Thursday, UEFA confirmed the opening of a disciplinary proceeding for the delay in the start of the match at Santiago Bernabéu and for the expulsion of Rudy Vormer from the Belgian team due to two yellow cards. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Committee will study the case on the 17th after the opening of the proceeding, in which Real Madrid is held responsible for the delay in the start, according to Article 11 (2) of the Disciplinary Regulations. Charges against Brugge are due to "abusive language towards a match official" by player Rudy Vormer, according to Article 15 (1) of the same regulations. Vormer was shown a red card in the 84th minute for two yellow cards, as he had been booked in the 78th minute and then, six minutes before the end, by Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov. The other disciplinary proceedings opened by UEFA announced today concern the matches Manchester City-Dinamo (2-0) and Red Star-Olympiacos (3-1). In the former, both clubs are held responsible for throwing objects and Dinamo for causing damage. In the latter, it is due to racist behavior and delay by the Greek team and improper conduct by the Serbian team, "receiving five or more cards".
