Cristiano Ronaldo (34 years old) and Lionel Messi (32) are no longer the young kids they used to be. Age is starting to affect them with increasingly frequent injuries and fans suffer from not seeing them with Juventus and Barcelona , respectively. The latest bad news has come from the Argentine forward after confirming that he has a muscle strain in his left leg. 

Messi suffered the injury during the 30th minute of Barcelona's 2-1 victory over Villarreal , and despite playing until the end of the first half, he was replaced during halftime. Therefore, the Argentine will be out for the weekend match in LaLiga Santander and maybe even the match against Inter in the Champions League. 

With the next two Barcelona matches that he won't play, the four matches he has already missed in LaLiga, and the matches he didn't participate in during the preseason, Lionel Messi has already been absent in ten matches this season. And we're only in September. Undoubtedly, something never seen before.

The last time Messi was absent for such a long time from Barcelona was during the 2006-07 season, in a match against Zaragoza, when he broke the fifth metatarsal of his left foot. This injury kept him out for three months. After more than a decade, the Argentine had never played so little.

The Juventus star is two years older than Lionel Messi and injuries are also affecting him, as the Portuguese striker himself has admitted. In the few weeks of the season, the former player of Real Madrid and Manchester United has already suffered discomfort in his abductors, which caused him to miss last Tuesday's match against Brescia.

In the previous season, his first in Italy, the former coach of Juventus, Massimiliano Allegri, gave him rest in several Serie A matches. Zidane did the same in Cristiano Ronaldo's last season at Real Madrid. Dosing is the key to keep him on the field longer.
