The Peruvian National Team comes to this match after losing to Ecuador in the previous friendly. That match had a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Raúl Ruidíaz as the lone striker. This time, Ricardo Gareca tried a different scheme, with a three-man midfield line: Gabriel Costa, Pedro Aquino, and Renato Tapia.
The next friendly matches for the 'bicolor' will be in October against Uruguay, twice. The first match is scheduled for Thursday, October 10th, at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo; while the return match will be at home, at the National Stadium, on Tuesday, October 15th.
