Ricardo Gareca

Ricardo Gareca has earned a nomination for the FIFA The Best awards. The coach of the Peruvian national team is competing to be the best coach and, for now, he ranks among the top 10 in the world.

Nomination

Gareca earned this nomination after the great 2019 Copa America he had with the national team. Despite some suspense, they advanced from the group stage, recovered exceptionally well after a 5-0 defeat against Brazil, and eliminated two strong contenders, Uruguay and Chile (with a historic victory), to reach the final of the tournament after 44 years.

Sensation in Argentina

As a result, Gareca has caused a sensation in Argentina after his nomination. He is one of the three Argentine coaches competing for the award. Along with him, Marcelo Gallardo (Copa Libertadores champion with River Plate in a historic final against Boca Juniors) and Mauricio Pochettino (Champions League finalist with Tottenham) are the other two Argentine contenders.
