The coach of Barcelona, Ernesto Valverde, praised on Wednesday the three new additions to the team for the 2019-2020 season: goalkeeper Norberto Murara 'Neto', midfielder Frenkie de Jong, and forward Antoine Griezmann.
"They're three important signings, one in each line, and we have high expectations for them. We know that they generate excitement among our fans, and we want them to quickly integrate into the team dynamics in order to perform at their level," he said to Barça TV.
In his first declarations of the new season, Valverde valued the three reinforcements. About Griezmann, he said, "He's an established player with a lot of experience in the league. Fast, good at finding spaces, and decisive in the final meters."
About De Jong, who has been playing at a high level in recent years, he said that his signing is a bet for the future and that he has the style that Barcelona likes. "We hope he gives us that fresh point in the midfield," he added.
He also justified the signing of Neto: "He's also an experienced player, a safe pair of hands in goal. He's an ideal complement for Marc-André ter Stegen, while Iñaki Peña continues to develop a bit more."
