Alberto Yaqué, agent of Lautaro Martínez, assured this Thursday that there was a "strong inquiry" from Barcelona for the Argentine forward from Inter who played the Copa America with Argentina's national team.
"No one called us, but we know that there is a strong and true rumor from Barcelona. There was an inquiry that is strong, one cannot say anything because it would create an expectation that is not, but there is a rumor and a certain liking from Barcelona that is true," Yaqué said to Radio Rivadavia.
The representative pointed out that during the Copa America there was a "tremendous" connection between the 21-year-old striker and Lionel Messi.
Yaqué also stated that Martínez exceeded expectations in that tournament because he felt "spoiled, loved" and valued.
"He knew what he had grown and everything he can give. He is the typical forward that all Argentinians like: strong, with personality, brave. That at this age he is already at the level of a national team is very strong," said Yaqué.
Lautaro Martínez made his debut in Racing Club de Avellaneda in 2015 and signed for Inter Milan in mid-2018.
In the Copa America in Brazil, he scored two goals in four matches and was one of the standout players of the Argentine team led by Lionel Scaloni, which finished third.
