The day has come. Fernando 'Niño' Torres says goodbye today to Atlético de Madrid in front of all its fans, present today at the Wanda Metropolitano for the last match of the Liga Santander 2018. The 'Rojiblanco' club paid a high tribute to the Spanish forward prior to the match against Eibar.
Another day of emotions for the 'Niño', like so many others that he has experienced alongside the team he loves. The little boy who used to go hand in hand with his grandfather to the Vicente Calderón, today says goodbye to the club where he made his debut at just 17 years old.
"22 years ago I was there, I was an 11-year-old kid and I came to see the Atleti of '96 that won the 'Double' (League and Cup) and dreamed of being here someday (at Neptune). Throughout my career I have won many things, but without a doubt this is the best, without a doubt," said Torres, after becoming champion of the Europe League with Atlético.
The sacred cry of the 'Niño'. Torres couldn't leave Atlético de Madrid without scoring a brace with the club that saw him born, and from which he says goodbye in a big way. After playing a total of 404 games with the 'Colchoneros' jersey, the 'Niño' became the fifth all-time leading scorer in the history of the club with 129 goals to his name.
Today it ends. I await you all #forzaatleti
