It's been a while since his announcement as the new reinforcement of Barcelona, but his arrival was still unknown: we're talking about Vitor Roque. The young Brazilian footballer still can't play due to economic issues with the club, but Barcelona has confirmed that he will arrive in January. There are only two months left for him to officially wear the 'culé' jersey and embark on his first adventure in Europe.
The player's agent, Andre Cuty, spoke with 'RAC1' and said that "everything is settled" for his client's owners to let him go as soon as 2024 begins. "Barcelona's plan and the player's plan are still clear: to join in January. Everything has been agreed with Paranaense for Vitor Roque to arrive in January. He is currently recovering from his injury, but we believe he can be ready in four weeks."
The blaugrana club plans to hold a meeting with LaLiga to discuss Roque's signing and present a plan that allows for his registration, taking into account that the player's salary for the first six months will be very low. They are convinced they can solve it, but for now, they don't have the OK. The final negotiation will take place in early November. From there, everything can be discussed more clearly.
Vitor Roque will have certainty about his future on November 15th. Barcelona has committed to making a decision about his registration on that date, and then the player's planning will be finalized. If he can play with Barcelona starting in January, Roque will only take one week of vacation after finishing the championship with Atlético Paranaense.
Why would Barcelona speed up his arrival?
The news gains more emphasis since the player suffered an injury three weeks ago, due to a hard tackle from an opponent in his country's LaLiga. The diagnosis was a sprained syndesmosis of the right ankle, which didn't require surgery, only treatment and rehabilitation.
Since it wasn't something serious, it is estimated that he will be 100% fit with plenty of time to leave for Spain, almost at the end of the year, and already with the clearance from Brazil. The idea is to start adapting him to the team, in order to face the second half of LaLiga.
Barcelona is struggling with Lewandowski's injury and they believe the Brazilian could be key to giving the Polish player some rest in a final stretch of the season where there will be practically no rest. In this way, his youth could also be another determining factor for the team.
