Jonathan González authorized to play for the Mexican National Team

Jonathan González, midfielder for Monterrey, was authorized this Wednesday by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to defend the colors of the Mexican national team.

"We are pleased to inform that the request made by the Mexican Football Federation and by Jonathan González for the change of Association, was accepted by a Judge of the Players Committee, so he will be able to represent the National Team according to the notification about the decision," stated a FIFA spokesperson in an interview with ESPN.

The 18-year-old football player played for the United States in the U17 and U20 categories; however, now he can be considered by Juan Carlos Osorio as a player for the Mexican National Team for Russia 2018.
