The Manchester United defeats Arsenal 3-1

Manchester United, with an initial goal from Ecuadorian Antonio Valencia and a brace from Jesse Lingard, achieved a great victory of 3-1 in the field of Arsenal, this Saturday in Matchday 15 of the Premier League, sending a dose of pressure to their neighbor Manchester City.

United now has 35 points and temporarily stands five points behind the Citizens, who will host West Ham on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Waiting for that match, which will close the matchday, José Mourinho's men fulfilled with a good grade in their trip to London, where they not only gained three valuable points but also dropped a direct rival, who is now fifth - out of the Champions League places - seven points behind United.

Antonio Valencia opened the path with the first goal in the 4th minute, when the Ecuadorian relied on the Frenchman Paul Pogba, located at the edge of the area and who returned the pass, to beat the 'gunner' goalkeeper with a low shot across.

The second for United came shortly after, in the 11th minute, when the Frenchman Anthony Martial received with his back towards the goal in the area, turned and sent a pass for Lingard to score.

Alexandre Lacazette gave hope to Arsenal by shortening the scoreline in the 49th minute, but Lingard (63) scored the third, after receiving another pass from Pogba, which he only had to push into the net just a few centimeters from the line, an empty goal.

Pogba overshadowed his great game by being sent off in the 74th minute for stomping on an opponent's knee.

Since their 1-0 defeat against Chelsea on November 5th, United has achieved four consecutive victories in the Premier League.

After the match, Mourinho especially praised his goalkeeper, Spanish David De Gea.

"I told him after the game, what I saw today was one of the best from a goalkeeper in the world. You need the goalkeeper to be there when the team needs him. The effort from all the players was magnificent", applauded the Portuguese coach.
