A Chilean court sentenced Chilean international defender Eugenio Mena to a two-year suspension of his driver's license. Mena was arrested on June 5th for driving at 166 kilometers per hour on a highway while intoxicated, according to judicial sources.

In addition to not being able to drive in Chile, Mena, who currently plays for Sport Recife in Brazil, must pay 1.5 million pesos (about $2,307) to the Volunteer Fire Department of Curacaví and a similar amount to the Disabled Unit in that town, located about 35 kilometers west of Santiago.

He must also give at least one talk at a football school in the same town, as determined by the Guaranteet Court of the people.

Mena was arrested in the early morning of June 5th for driving under the influence and speeding on the highway that connects Santiago with the cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar, a few hours before the Chilean national team traveled to Russia to play in the Confederations Cup.

Mena, who was heading from Viña del Mar to Santiago to join the national team after enjoying a day off, was driving at 166 kilometers per hour and had 1.6 grams of alcohol per liter of blood.

In Chile, a person is considered intoxicated with 0.8 grams of alcohol and the maximum allowed speed on roads is 120 kilometers per hour.
