The Paraguayan footballer Paulo da Silva will take legal action against a Twitter user who accused him of participating in an orgy before Thursday's match with Ecuador in the South American World Cup qualifiers.

The message spread on social media did not directly name Da Silva, but stated that a player with the initials PDS was present at the party with women, which coincides with those of the Toluca defender from Mexico.

Da Silva stated that the information is false and it affects his family. "People need to know that it's a lie. I have built my career based on humility, many years in the national team, I am the captain. They want to destabilize a player," said Da Silva.

The footballer's lawyer mentioned that they will request the name of the person responsible for spreading the news in order to file a defamation and slander lawsuit against them.

This Thursday, Paraguay defeated Ecuador 2-1 and regained confidence to access the qualification zone for the 2018 Russia World Cup, although they remain in seventh position with 18 points.

Out of the ten South American teams participating in the qualifiers, the top four directly qualify while the fifth-placed team has to play a playoff match.
