Liverpool will field Greek Kostas Tsimikas as a replacement for the injured Andrew Robertson in the derby against Everton for the ninth round of the Premier League. Luis Díaz will be a starter.
Coach Jurgen Klopp announced changes for the match on Saturday, October 21 against the toffees at Anfield. Starting left back Robertson is injured in the shoulder and will have to undergo surgery, so he will be out for a few weeks.
Tsimikas, who has similar characteristics to the Scottish player, will play in his place. He has a strong offensive vocation, depth, and understands well the rotation movements with the Colombian player from the wing to the midfield.
"You need options, that's for sure. Kostas is definitely the most experienced in that position, so that's good," explained the coach.
In this campaign, they have played two matches in the UEFA Europa League against LASK and Union Saint-Gilloise. In the first match against the Austrians, the Colombian player scored a goal in the 1-3 away victory.
Díaz trained normally on Thursday and the coach highlighted that he arrived within the established time along with the South American legion that participated in the Qualifiers.
"This time was much better, the guys got on the plane quickly after the match and were able to fly directly to England," he said.
Liverpool resumes the local league without wins in the last two matchdays. They will need a victory in the derby to stay in the top 5 of the table.
"We have to be prepared to fight for the second ball, for having a compact defense. It will be difficult, but we have to make the appropriate change," added the German coach.
The match will take place on Saturday, October 21 at 6:30.
