VAR and penalty: Mohamed Salah took the shot and put Liverpool ahead 2-1 against Manchester City in the Community Shield [VIDEO].

Through a penalty, Mohamed Salah once again gave Liverpool the lead over Manchester City. There was a handball by Rubén Dias after a header from Darwin Núñez.

The 'reds' achieved a new advantage. Mohamed Salah was in charge of putting Liverpool 2-1 ahead of Manchester City in the Community Shield.

In the second half, Uruguayan forward Darwin Núñez reached Manchester City's area and headed the ball. The ball clearly hit Ruben Dias' hand, the central defender of the 'citizen' team. After a VAR review, the referee awarded a penalty in favor of Liverpool.

Thus, at 83', Salah stepped up to the ball and with a left foot shot defeated the goal that couldn't be perfectly defended by Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Moraes. Liverpool scored the second goal against the team led by coach Pep Guardiola.

It is important to note that the scoring was opened by Jürgen Klopp's team. Trent Alexander-Arnold, with a shot, scored in the first half.

In the second half, Julián Álvarez scored his first goal with the 'citizens'. However, his goal didn't amount to much as the 'reds' achieved a 3-1 lead. Darwin Núñez scored in Leicester.

It was a back-and-forth match where Liverpool emerged as champions. Klopp's team won the first English trophy of the 2022-23 season.

For this match, Anfield's team lined up with Adrián San Miguel; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joël Matip, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago Alcántara; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Luis Díaz.

On the other hand, the 'citizens' had Ederson Moraes; Kyle Walker, Rúben Dias, Nathan Aké, Joao Cancelo; Bernardo Silva, Rodri Hernández, Kevin De Bruyne; Riyad Mahrez, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish.
