A few days ago, Carles Puyol, former FC Barcelona football player, was in Lima and gave a press conference in which he referred to the current situation of the Peruvian National Team and the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
"Ricardo Gareca has formed a great group and that's how things are accomplished. I have experienced firsthand that Spain has had great players but we have only clicked when we have been united. So, my advice would be that the group is united in good times and bad," Puyol said in a press conference.
He was also asked about his favorites to win the Qatar 2022 World Cup: "It's very difficult to say who will reach the World Cup finals. I think a World Cup is a very tough competition where a bad day can knock you out. If I had to choose a team, I think France because they are very strong. Let's see how they arrive at the World Cup, but I think they are the favorites."
"I also have confidence in the Spanish national team, I think Luis Enrique's work is very good. We also have Argentina, Brazil, and Germany as teams that will be there and there will surely be some surprises," Carles Puyol added.
Regarding Renato Tapia's present in the Spanish League, the former football player considered: "He is a young player with a lot of quality. My advice is for him to keep working, he is in a very good team and he has to keep growing. Peruvian football has good players."
