Carlos Alfaro Moreno, will run for re-election in Barcelona Sporting Club. The former player and president of the team since 2019 confirmed that he will seek a second term leading Ecuador's most popular team.
Alfaro Moreno will have Antonio Álvarez, brother of the Mayor of Guayaquil, Aquiles Álvarez, as his running mate. Antonio Álvarez was also a former executive of Barcelona.
This list will be registered on the afternoon of Friday, October 20, and will compete in the election against Rafael Verduga and Matías Oyola, who registered on Thursday, October 19. The date of the elections is still unconfirmed.
Alfaro Moreno was vice president of Barcelona from 2015 to 2018, when he accompanied former goalkeeper José Francisco Cevallos, who was elected president.
In 2019, he was elected president of Barcelona SC and under his leadership, the club won its sixteenth national title. Additionally, in 2023, they won the national title in the women's Superliga, their first in history.
