Giovanni Simeone, forward for Napoli, will join the Argentine national team to play the friendly matches against Panama and Curacao on March 20th and 28th, respectively, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) reported on Thursday.

“Napoli's footballer, Giovanni Simeone, joins the call for the March double date against Panama and Curacao,” tweeted the official Albiceleste account.

The son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone, 27, joins Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Rodrigo De Paul, and the rest of the squad for the friendlies, which will mark the return of the Albiceleste after winning the World Cup in Qatar last December.

On Friday, the list of 35 players selected by coach Lionel Scaloni was announced, combining established stars with young promises such as Máximo Perrone (20 years old), Valentín Carboni (17), or Alejandro Garnacho (18).

It also includes several players who missed the World Cup due to injury, including midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and winger Nicolás González.

The call-up includes the 26 players who lifted the World Cup on December 18th, after defeating France in the penalty shootout.
