A few weeks after the winners of the Best Award were announced, it was revealed who were the finalists in the category of best goalkeeper.
And it couldn't be less, as the finalist goalkeepers are the Argentinean Emiliano 'Dibu' Martínez; the Belgian Thiebaut Courtois, goalkeeper of Real Madrid; and the Moroccan, Yassine Bouno.
As you know, the 30-year-old Argentine seems to be a strong candidate, this due to his great performance in the last World Cup that led his team to the final, occasion in which he made the save that defined the destiny of the Albiceleste, who became champions for the third time in their history.
On the other hand, Courtois had a great season with Real Madrid, reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League. Unfortunately, this achievement did not extend to his performance as the goalkeeper of Belgium in the last World Cup, where they could not advance from the group stage.
Meanwhile, Bouno, the Canadian-Moroccan goalkeeper, had a great performance in Qatar, being considered as a revelation after defending his goal against powerful rivals such as Croatia, Spain, and Portugal. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the final or achieve third place in the event held in the Middle East.
The result of this election will be announced on Monday, February 27th during an event to be held in the city of Paris.
