Aucas rallied against Barcelona SC in an exciting match that took place on Saturday, October 7th at the Gonzalo Pozo stadium in Quito, for the 9th round of the LigaPro.
"We wanted to achieve victory at home, we had been working for it and today it finally happened," said Jeison Medina, the Colombian midfielder who scored a double in the Oriental team's triumph.
Aucas was losing 2-0 in the first 30 minutes, but with their goals, the Eastern team tied the match. Erick Castillo scored the winning goal. "It is very important for me to score and help the team. When I don't score, I try to help in other ways," added Medina, who joined the club at the request of coach Santiago Escobar for this Second Stage of the LigaPro.
"It is always important to correct things when you win. We have to turn our mistakes into strengths, and the only way is to keep working to earn 3 points in each match," said Medina, who has already scored 4 goals in 9 rounds.
This is the first home victory for Aucas and the second in this second part of the tournament. "Despite the adversities, this group always believed in their abilities, and thanks to that we were able to get the result," finally said in the press conference.
Aucas, the champion of the 2022 LigaPro, currently occupies the eighth place in the standings. In the six remaining matches, they must secure that position to qualify for an international tournament.
