"There are players who can enhance us, but we have a budget that we cannot deviate from," said Monday night Carlos Alfaro Moreno, president of Barcelona SC, after being questioned about the possibility of signing defender Fernando León, currently playing for Atlético San Luis in Mexico.
However, the executive mentioned that an opportunity could arise, as long as it does not violate the budget. "Today we are here (pointing to his forehead) with the sheet. If an opportunity arises, we terminated al Tin Angulo and we are working on the termination of Jefferson (Orejuela). So, an opportunity may arise," Alfaro Moreno said on DirecTV.

"I am happy with the defense that Barcelona has. There is the possibility for Joshué Quiñónez, captain of the Ecuador U-20, to be the third center-back. Bryan Caicedo has arrived, a young boy with a huge future, and there is Víctor Carabalí, another Ecuadorian national team player who comes from the youth academy. They ask us for young players, and there they are," he added.
According to Alfaro Moreno, for the 2021 season, Barcelona has a "very complete" squad and that for now, the priority, after ruling out Colmán, is to sign a forward. "Then we will see if there is any budget margin (to sign another player), but if it is not possible, we are very well. We signed more than we expected," he concluded. (D)
