Quito -
Richard Carapaz is the guest figure at the Tour of Ecuador.
The Carchense, champion of the Giro d'Italia 2019 and runner-up of La Vuelta a España this 2020, will be part of the organization of the race, which celebrates its 37th edition this year.
"I am happy to participate in this great event that the country has, it is a pride to have these events because they promote sports and the creation of new athletes, the growth of this activity," said the cyclist of Ineos Grenadiers, a team of the UCI World Tour.
The race is held in six stages, and according to Carapaz, who will be present at the arrivals and awards of the last two stages, the Tour "will be suitable for climbers, because despite being on the coast, the first stages will be uphill. There will be attractiveness from the first day, most of the runners excel in mountain, there are many specialists in medium mountain and others who are pure climbers," he pointed out.
The Locomotive defined the competition route as "tough", and highlighted that the third stage, which covers the route between Machachi and the Olmedo parish in Cayambe, "will be key because differences will be marked. The group will encounter altitude and will have significant physical wear," he commented.

There is good participation with invited teams, which gives prominence to the cycling party, may all Ecuadorians enjoy it, may everything develop in the best way and live the party to the fullest," said the cyclist from Carchense.
The race will take place between November 23 and 28 with a route of 784.6 kilometers and the participation of 17 teams, including continental, national teams, international teams, and local squads. (D)
