Carlos Galarza: 'It is a mockery, a shame that Ecuadorian football is treated this way'

Manager will request a report on the absence of coach Jordi Cruyff and Antonio Cordón's resignation.

Carlos Galarza, member of the board of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF), describes the absence of coach Jordy Cruyff as 'a mockery and a shame' in front of the Ecuadorian national team, after his arrival was announced last Thursday night in Quito, and said that in the next board session he will request a report on the matter.

"It is a mockery, a shame to treat Ecuadorian football like this. Our football deserves respect. How is it possible that he is deceiving us, that last week, yesterday, today, two more days to think. The truth is that when someone does not want to be in a place and does not feel well, they have to be honest and leave," said the national leader.

Galarza hopes that in the FEF board session, to be held this Tuesday, firm and strong decisions can be made, "but that decisions are made together because what Mr. Egas (Francisco) has done and has not done has caused us discomfort because important time and resources have been lost. We will request that the issue of Jordi Cruyff be discussed, whether his stay is convenient or not, and that a report on Mr. Cordón's resignation be presented to us, in what terms he left, whether the termination clause is charged or not."

The official, originally from Macas, points out that DT Cruyff receives a very important remuneration and, "it is not possible that he is not justifying it, that he is constantly asking for permissions. An employee in Ecuador who earns a basic salary, an average of $500, they are not given permission as Jordi Cruyff has been. Mr. Egas must respond about the number of days the coach has spent in Ecuador and if he was in Mexico, Europe, what he went to do, how many days he has justified his work. We will demand that he inform us of what he has accomplished because we may be doubting a priori."

Galarza says: "I would like to see Mr. Egas give those types of permissions to his employees on the farm as he has done with Mr. Jordi Cruyff. Time is money and we are losing valuable days because we are on the verge of the qualifiers and we cannot continue playing cat and mouse, waiting for Mr. Egas to demand work, to demand responsibility from Mr. Jordi Cruyff, that is why it is very important that the board takes the lead because we cannot wait any longer."

Regarding the reasons Cruyff gave, through the official FEF Twitter account, that he had personal problems that prevented him from coming, Galarza adds that "in that matter I want to be very consistent with those issues because if it is a personal issue, that is the most important thing that any human being can have; but whatever it is, we must understand that FC Barcelona lost the championship in the Spanish League, so we see that everything indicates that he (Jordi Cruyff) is more concerned about staying there than coming here. This is not Mr. Egas' farm for him to decide to give permissions and not enforce respect for Ecuadorian football." (D)
