A final de temporada, "Liga de Portoviejo will have a small deficit," recognized President Roberto Rodríguez; however, strengthening the team is a "necessity." La Capira repatriated Vinicio Angulo, but his signing does not affect the club's economy due to external support, according to the director, who advanced that at least two more reinforcements could arrive.

Angulo left Dorados, in Mexico, to sign with the Portoviejo team. "He is a top-level player who comes from abroad with a higher salary, but we have proposed a salary that does not affect the club's economy," Rodríguez told radio La Red.

The signing was made amid negotiations with the team to reduce salaries due to the economic crisis generated by COVID-19, including claims from some players who demand payments pending for up to three months.

According to the director, the arrival of the forward is due to agreements with one of its sponsors, which is also a player agency. "There is a good relationship with Imagesport, the group that represents the player and is sponsoring us this year, in that sense we have achieved facilities in the salary part, and the management with a couple of new sponsors who want to bet on Liga," he said.

Angulo would not be the only reinforcement to arrive with this formula. Jaime Ayoví is another player who is being targeted to bring him back from Argentina (Godoy Cruz), also from a third signing, who would come for the defense.

"We handle that situation with great subtlety, the same scheme would be applied, without mortgaging the club's finances," said Rodríguez.

The director spoke of the "obligation to be protagonists in the tournament" and the need to respond to a request from the coaching staff led by Rubén Insúa.

"We have spoken with the team about the economic reality and there may be players who may feel affected by these issues, but most of them are tuned in to the situation. These are not astronomical figures that are being handled, but they are players who can contribute to us, the circumstances help us to have this type of signings," Rodríguez pointed out.

Due to the economic crisis, negotiations continue with the team for salary adjustments. "We try to finish negotiations with the players in a fair, equitable, and voluntary manner," said the Manabi president, who with his board hopes to get up to date "with the new financial obligations acquired before the restart of the tournament. We want to do it calmly, we work for that," Rodríguez concluded. (D)
