Currently, there is a huge scarcity of sports leaders in the country and out of the few who still fulfill this task, 80% of them have shortcomings as they are incapable, egocentric, authoritarian, narcissistic, and conjugate the verb to fail.
Every universal rule has its exceptions and, being minimal, we are pleased to see two young leaders emerging in the field of sports, whom I know and give reason to this column: David Lecaro (31), who handles the immense helm as director of Sports of the Prefecture of Guayas, and Carlos Álvarez (42), who leads the gigantic Sports Directorate of the Municipality of Guayaquil. They are reliable and knowledgeable in sports matters, new faces in the infinite spectrum of sports, and we are certainly confident that they will continue to establish themselves day by day for their ability.
What are David and Carlos's professional and human characteristics? They are adding compliments in the context, gaining experience, knowing the real needs of the city and the province in sports areas, and implementing recreational programs as infrastructure works, benefiting children, youth, and elderly people.
David Lecaro is calm, disciplined, punctual, receptive to disagreements, and carries out his daily work units with enthusiasm.
Carlos Álvarez is an observer of form and substance, enthusiastic, demanding in compliance with programs, and is attentive to his memorandum to be fulfilled.
So far, what they have outlined in their work unit schedules, without rivalry, they are fulfilling them with a positive balance.
A piece of advice for both: stop the freeloaders who constantly transit in the sports field and be optimistic and selfless in everything related to sports in good faith.
