The Ecuadorian junior golfer Nicolás Escobar placed eighth in the South American Amateur Open Tournament, which took place last weekend in Santiago, Chile. After three days of competition, he completed the course with 287 strokes.
The Ecuadorian Golf Federation (FEG) qualified the young selected player's performance as outstanding and commendable since he faced the best golfers from the region and other countries in North America and Europe, who attended the tournament as guests.
Chilean Benjamin Saiz-Wenz prevailed as the local and won the tournament with 277 strokes. The second place went to Argentine Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, with 281 impacts, and third place was taken by Chilean Tomás Gana, who scored 283 strokes. (D)
