This Thursday, November 2nd, the Peace Delegation of the Government of Colombia in talks with the ELN has announced that this Colombian guerrilla group was responsible for the kidnapping of the parents of football player Luis Díaz in La Guajira, last Saturday, October 28th, a criminal act that has kept the country and the world on alert. Hours later, it was reported that the mother had been released after an exhaustive search by the police and military forces, but the father still remains in captivity despite the extensive deployment of the authorities.
According to the dialogue table, in a statement addressed to the public opinion, the act was perpetrated by an armed faction of the National Liberation Army (ELN), which is considered the last guerrilla organization still engaged in armed struggle in this South American country.
