James Rodríguez continues to make history in Colombia. In the match played at the Munsu Stadium in Ulsan against South Korea, the first friendly of the Asian tour in preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the Olympiacos midfielder scored the first goal for the national team in the hard-fought 2-2 draw and became the second top scorer in the history of the 'Tricolor'.

Four minutes into the second half (49'), Daniel Muñoz received a ball on the right side and played a pass for Diego Valoyes, who entered the area, advanced to the goal line while fighting with his marker, to send a low cross to assist the Colombian '10', who received the ball without any marking and finished first, defeating goalkeeper Kim Seung-Gyu.

This was his 26th goal with the Colombian National Team, surpassing Arnoldo Iguarán's record, who now occupies the third position with 25 goals. Radamel Falcao Garcia (36) remains the top scorer.

James, who made his debut for the national team in 2011 and has since been a key piece of the team, has scored 26 goals in 90 matches played. Despite being a midfielder, the Cúcuta-born player has had a very good relationship with the goal and is getting closer to the 'Tigre' of Santa Marta.

Lorenzo proud of Colombia

The Colombian National Team achieved a hard-fought 2-2 draw against South Korea on Friday, in a match where the team, under the command of Néstor Lorenzo, changed drastically from one half to another (the second half was completely different from the start of the game) and left good impressions for the World Cup 2026 qualifiers, which will begin in September.

The key figure in that change was undoubtedly the Argentine coach, who after a forgettable first half for the 'cafeteros', managed to turn the tables on a clear superiority to balance the game at the end through character, commitment, and talent.

This was stated by Néstor Lorenzo himself: "What leaves me calm is that there is something to work with. Young players have played, it's not easy to come to this stadium against a great team that had a great World Cup, with a lot of work and performance. Young players played and I'm happy that they complemented each other and performed well, which bodes well for the future of the National Team."
