Colombia and Uruguay gave us an exciting match, within the framework of the third day of the 2026 South American Qualifiers. Both teams came out with their best players on the field of the Metropolitan Stadium, with the aim of adding three important points. However, it was the 'Tricolor' team that took the lead first, through their star player, James Rodríguez.
The action took place in the 35th minute of the game. Néstor Lorenzo's team launched an attack down the right wing, where Santos Borré partnered with Santiago Arias. The full-back, with great speed, surpassed his marker and delivered a good cross towards the opponent's area, where the Colombian '10' was located.
As he is accustomed to, James Rodríguez showed off with great control and immediately connected a powerful left-footed shot. Despite three defenders standing in front of him to prevent his shot from progressing, it ended up crossing and entered the left side of Santiago Mele's goal, who couldn't do anything to prevent the ball from going into the net for the 1-0.
