CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) -The Chargers had a record-breaking season in 2023, which saw them capture a Regional Title.
The team lost plenty of key seniors, and Sawyer Johnson will be taking over the head coaching position from Dakota Lafferty. The Chargers have been competing this summer in various scrimmages and jamborees but are still trying to shore up some parts of their game, before the season starts.
“I think you never know. Yeah, we might not have the strongest hitters, but we can play smart,” said Madison Quesenberry, an Illini West volleyball player. “We can find those open holes and hit there. It’s not always about the hardest hitters, I would say. It’s about playing smart, and in order to do that we need to play to that skill and use that smart.”
