After the painful defeat (0-2) suffered by the Peruvian national team against Argentina, in the match played in Lima for the fourth round of the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, the coach of the Bicolor, Juan Reynoso, generated a great controversy by indicating - in the press conference after the match - that the local league players - mentioned the names of Bryan Reyna and Joao Grimaldo - were not in a condition to play even 60 minutes, because "that is the deficiency that the local league gives us".
Regarding this, Jairo Concha, who was called up to the national team for the matches against Chile and Argentina, and who was even listed in the match against the albicelestes but did not play, commented to the media about his feelings after the statements made by the national team coach.

"I think many have taken it in a bad way, but the coach wanted to give a message like saying that we should train better because we have already seen the high level of competition that the qualifiers are. I think that's true, if you want to compete with the best, you have to train in the best way. The truth is that I took the message in the best way. I think (Reynoso) didn't do it with the intention of offending, everything is fine," Concha said in statements to the media.
The 24-year-old player also referred to the talk he had with Reynoso after the match against Argentina in the concentration hotel.
"As you could see, there was a talk, but everything is for the better. The truth is that I feel happy, not because of the result, obviously. It was a first step to be listed for the qualifiers, now all I have left is to play and hopefully I can be given the opportunity," he said.
